Things I love: that over the past five-ish years healthy food, and I’m talking about whole foods, not just “low-fat” “low-cal” is becoming more and more mainstream. Obviously America has a ways to go when it comes to the food industry, but I’ve seen a noticable shift even in the way food is marketed. At the end of the day it will just make business sense because demand for real food is going to grow and grow.

From the other side, the fact that the word “balance” is becoming frustratingly cliche also makes me really happy. It means that “balance” isn’t just a fringe trend, but something that a lot of people are talking about and searching for. Mind you, everyone’s definition will be different, but that’s cool. I’m feeling (and maybe this is just me being overly optimistic) a trend away from diets and towards lifelong healthy lifestyle changes.
Whether it’s out of altruism or plain market demand, media publications are changing their language from “get skinny” to “feel healthy.” Again, this shift is slow and it’s certainly not everywhere, but compared to even 5 years ago I do see a change.

So what does this have to do with smoothie bowls? Well, just that I want to brag that I totally predicted they’d be hugely popular over a year ago (evidence: here) and I love it! I love that feeding your body delicious fruits and veggies is cool and I can only hope that in 5 more years demand for healthy food will go up and the need for quick fixes will go down.
So let’s celebrate moving in the right direction over some deeeelish smoothie bowls from yours truly and 5 of my favorite blogging babes.
