You guys are going to love these burgers. They’re sweet, smoky, and the perfect balance of tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. As I take a bite, on this rainy Sunday in my apartment, I’m day dreaming about a warm July evening on the beach, the sun just starting to set. We’re all covered in sand and the salt water is drying on our slightly burned skin. We bust out the grill and the picnic basket for an epic feast, which is especially delicious after the mouthfuls of salt water we’ve been chugging from body surfing all day.

Yeah. Definitely ready for summer and looking forward to making these little Chipotle Sweet Potato Tuna Burgers the star of the Beach-B-Q or even the Backyard-B-Q. Even if I’m not covered in sand, hanging out at Fisherman’s beach on Nantucket all summer, I’m still totally cooking these bad boys up on the regular.

If you’ve read my WIAW posts for a while you’ve probably noticed I’ve made similar burgers before, and I would be remiss if I didn’t give Amy from the Little Honey Bee (a grilling goddess) a shoutout for the original inspiration.

However this recipe, besides using tuna, has another delicious twist. The chipotle flavor. For that, I used Bumble Bee’s Prime Fillet Tuna with Chipotle & Olive Oil. This added a whole other dimension of flavor and texture to the burgers and I don’t know if I’ll go back! Bumble Bee also has a jalapeño flavor and sundried tomato flavor of their canned tuna and I’m sure those would be awesome in these burgers as well.

I found these cans at my local Stop & Shop in the canned aisle. I’m actually a huge fan of tuna fish as a source of pescatarian protein. As much as I’d love to have fresh caught fish every day, that’s not realistic for my wallet. Tuna is affordable and super versatile.
3 Reasons I Love These Tuna Burgers (& You Will Too):
1.) The batch makes 6 patties, which means you can feed your squad or have leftovers all week (my favorite)
2.) These burgers are so versatile you can eat them on a salad, on freshly toasted bun, eat them naked or slathered in your favorite sauce
3.) And finally, like any 1st phorm recipes, they’re super easy to make.
