This oatmeal cookie dough smoothie feels like a treat, yet it delivers plenty of fiber, protein, and healthy fats to help you stay full through the morning. Oh and did I mention it tastes like as close to flippin’ cookie as one healthy smoothie can? Yeah, trust me on this one.

My friends, it is time to bust out your blenders because I have some exciting news. Today is the very first post in a brand new series I’m calling: Smoothie Tuesdays. For the next six weeks I’ll be sharing a brand new smoothie recipe every Tuesday, I know, I know, I’m super creative when it comes to thinking of series names, I guess it’s kind of my thing. To make it easier to search through smoothie recipes, I made a visual guide of all my smoothie recipes to date, which you can find right here. It’ll be updated with each new smoothie Tuesday recipe. It’s like your one-stop-shop for blended bliss.

As you can imagine, I read a shizzle ton of food blogs, mostly healthy recipe focused. Man, do I love this community. I love their creativity, dedication to health and delicious free recipes? Like hello, this is a great deal people. Sometimes I think about what my life would be like without the internet and I shudder. Ok, I’m sure I’d survive, but my life would be nothing like it is today (social media manager, instagram addict and blogger right here). But I digress, my real point was I stumble across many a recipe and 9 out of the 10 are fantastic. I especially love it when people make delicious things idiot-proof for me, because while I do a lot of cooking and mixing and such, I’m actually quite impatient in the kitchen.
However, that one recipe out of 10 that bums me out are the ones that promise to be something that they just aren’t. I remember Arman nailed it on the head with his post about recipe authenticity a while back. But this is what happens: I’ll get sucked in by some really catchy title like “3 Ingredient-Vegan-Paleo-Sugar-Free-Chocolate-Chip-Peanut-Butter-Cookie-Dough-Cake-Balls” I’m sorry what fool wouldn’t want to at least look at those hot cakes. But when I get to the page I find that the ingredients are literally just protein powder, pb2, sugar-free chocolate syrup and water. THOSE AREN’T ANYTHING LIKE CAKE BALLS WHY WOULD YOU LIE.

So I’m here to say that no, this won’t be as good as literal butter, sugar, flour and eggs whipped together, but the combination of soaked dates, oats, frozen bananas and some other lovely spices mix together pretty damn well and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. In fact, I still don’t fully understand why soaked dates make smoothies so damn good, but I won’t question it. It’s like when you find $20 on the ground, you don’t ask questions you just smile and take the money, but in this case smile and drink the smoothie.
